Just how crowded does the harbor get? We won't be racing and probably can't get there until early afternoon. Costumes optional or does everyone have one? Any thoughts on the day (and night) are appreciated!

Two years ago it appeared the mooring balls were all taken by Friday evening prior to race day. There were ~22 boats in the race, and I think all the race competitors left their dinghies locked to a mooring ball during the race.
At the very least there should be room to anchor in the outer harbour, or you could taxi over from Little Harbour.

We'll be on Cuvée (FP Saba 50). Launching her from Puerto del Rey, Puerto Rico on Sunday prior to the race, then visit Culebra and St John and arrive JVD by Friday morning. Will be joined by my nearly 94 yr old Dad who is a retired Norwegian sea captain that sailed in their merchant fleet throughout most of WWII. Hoping we can defend our 2016 win.

wow!!! That is amazing, would love to hear his stories!!!! Those Norwegians are sturdy My great grandfather sailed around the world on a square rigger at the turn of the century starting at just 14 years old, he lived into his 90's as well , sadly he passed away when I was only 2 so I never got to speak with him Please post pics!!

Laura does a great job with shirts. I'm one very happy customer, highly recommend. (This is an unpaid, unsolicited endorsement)

Hi, Annapolis will be represented DYC Bahia. Looking forward to a great time, and remembering our late friend Sail Dawg...
Anyone heard from Martin?
We also have bought Laura's shirts- none finer! Awesome graphics and top quality material.
Wishing everyone safe travels, could someone please post pics of our stern during the race????
Best-
JAM Annapolis, Md

It's improved to 12-15, but who knows. The first race is usually good and then the wind dies in the afternoon.

Wishing we would have had 4 kts of wind yesterday. For much of the race it was 1-2 kts. You had to search out small pockets of 4-6 kt 'gusts'.
Only 6 of 16 boats completed race 1 (race 2 obviously cancelled). It took us about 6 hrs to complete the ~7.2nm triangular course!!! As we approached Sandy Cay we were actually drifting backwards.
Here are the catamaran class winners: <40' -- Spellbound 40' - <45' -- Sail Pending 45' - <50' -- Cuvée 50'+ -- Catatonic

I was aboard "Wavelength" with Andy and his brothers..we had a great time but barely made it to the marker buoy when we decided to quit. At that point boats were almost drifting into each other. It was a shame as we had a pretty decent , enthusiastic, turnout, but everyone seemed to have a really good time which is all that counts. Talking to Chris Curran today who was on the race committee we discussed whether, maybe, they should have told everyone to round the buoy to port and head back and not head for Sandy Cay. As said..great times, great folks, big thanks to all who put time and effort into this again..Of course Dirk on the new " Cataonic" won his class..congrats buddy..
