Looks about the same as it did 12 months ago. Only places with chair rentals are on Club O Beach and Bikini. Only things open at this point.

As Elaine said, just Bikini and Club O. Also, if you want, you could rent chairs and umbrella from Craig at Packlight, and enjoy huge stretches of beach by yourself...

Is the beach pretty much covered at least partially in dead seaweed? It kinda looked like that in a photo someone posted

Depends on Mother Nature. There's been some seaweed floating around lately, but have not been near a beach in a few days due to the weather. It could be all gone by now.

Just to energetic some photos, we know it’s changed some. These are from June 2018. Hope this helps with folks wanting some pictures.

Still looks war-torn.

The scaffolding in front of buildings is a good sign.

Not,knowing anything about damaged palm trees and their growth/regeration cycle, with they come back or are they permanently lopsided.

Get to see it all first hand in front 83 days.

Lopsided is fine, they will stay that way. If nothing on top, they are dead and need to come out.

These pictures are so sad. Are there any plans in the near future to start rebuilding anything on the beach? We are returning in July. TY

My understanding is that Kakao and Kontiki (I think those are the ones) are currently under construction further down the beach, with one of them scheduled to reopen around November, the other early next year. LaPlaya was scheduled to reopen in December. The small places where Aloha, etc, used to be, the Collectivite has FINALLY said they are putting out bids to rebuild those structures, after doing absolutely NOTHING with that area for over a year.
