We were planning a 3-4 week charter out of BVI/USVI but I think we have changed up and now looking into chartering for 3-4 weeks out of Antigua. Obviously OT for this forum but more sailors here than any other so thought I would post here as well. Our plan would be to check out Monserratt, possibly Barbuda and then head south to Guadeloupe , Dominica, etc. Any insight or tips, on anchorages, to do's etc greatly appreciated. David

Certainly go to Montserrat and look up David Lea who may give you the ultimate tour of the island and volcano..not to be missed. Everyone knows David and he knows where the take you. The vacated Air Studios are worth the tour alone..stand where Sir Paul, Jimmy B, Sting and other legends lay down their hits..

We spent 3 nights on Antigua and 7 nights on Barbuda February 2017.
There was very little on Barbuda pre-hurricane. The few stores we saw were very basic. I would suggest being prepared to be completely self sufficient while at the island. We visited the frigate bird sanctuary and loved it. We picniced at Low Bay. (Both were agrranged by CocoPoint). The beaches were simply stunning. We loved Barbuda and would have returned in 2018 if not for the mass destruction.

Not sure which company you are using, but Horizon did not allow Montserrat as a stop a few years ago. Sailing in that area does not offer as many dining out options as BVI, so plan to eat aboard more often.

Thanks for the info. We havent made a choice yet but sailing area will obviously be a major consideration.
