I remember looking at the radar on my computer assuming the worst. My heart was heavy for all of our friends. In the coming days the anticipation of hearing and seeing how bad they were hit was heart wrenching. When we were finally able to go in December it was devastating to see but we were completely take aback by the resilience and will of the islanders. It has been a year now and for the most part the recovery has been amazing. As has been the support of all of you who have gone down this year to physically and financially help. The BVI's were smacked hard and have bounced back beautifully. As has been said before, if you are on the fence about going don't be. What we have seen down there since the storms is incredible.

Well said..as I look at the hurricane centre website with a little anxiety! Thank God we got our seawall back and stronger than ever and a tough, leakproof new roof. Hoping these crosses coming off Africa follow Florence into the Mid Atlantic..away from all of us and Bermuda.

Very well said - my wife got down in mid October and she reported that people were already recovering on VG. Sheer will and hard work has paid off but remember the mental anguish people have gone through as you meet people in BVI that went through Irma.

gordaguy2, You are correct. PTSD is real and I have to believe most that experienced the storms suffer with it. I could see it in their eyes when they talked about it. But they hide it well. I am pretty sure we hugged everyone that told us their survival story. I have tears in my eyes now thinking about it. Amazing islands with truly amazing people.

Mal, I pray another doesn't hit anytime soon or ever again. You all have been through enough. As with your seawall, we noticed a lot of "bigger and better" while there. Can't wait to get back.
