Was trying to figure out the best place to watch the World Cup match today at 2:00. Am staying in Simpson Bay and really don't want to drive over to the French side (even though with France in the semis there will be a lot of interest there). I'm sure 3 Amigos in Maho will have it on and probably the Sports Bar at Simpson Bay Resort. Any other suggestions on where I might find a lively crowd watching the match?

I would expect there will be lots of places along Welfare Road showing it, probably Toppers, Marty's, the Palms, just drive along Welfare Road and I think you will find a party!

We'll be at Fat Turtle on Snoopy Island, just behind the new Snoopys resto in Simpson Bay. You can try Marty's, but may not get in. Also St Maarten Yacht Club where we will probably go for tomorrow's match!
No food at Fat Turtle, but you can bring your own.
The Palms doesn't have a TV.

Huh, The Palms used to have a TV, because the first time we went there, there was a very LOUD soccer match on. That's why I remembered it!!

I am not on the island but if I was... Sunday July 15th France will be going wild! I believe the game is at 11:00 AM. There is very limited seating at American Tennis academy but I would sit on the floor to be there on Sunday! I had to add my favorite song... Waka Waka https://youtu.be/mB5UAt90ICQ

We were eating at one of the lolo's yesterday and the game was on in the little beach bar next door, packed with locals huddled around the tv in fact overflow out on the street. They went nuts when France scored and at the end of the game. Reminded me of watching the Canada Russia hockey series final game in 1972 in the gymnasium of our high school. Sunday will be fun for the French side, hopefully for them the outcome is favorable.
