Does anyone know of a marina that will rent an 18' to 25' boat for the day?
I'm a life-long boater, ex-Coastie and have extensive experience in small boats (ocean and big lakes).

It's funny. I've rented small boats all over the world, but I have tried (both online and in-person) on SXM for years and have had no luck. I don't really understand why. Maybe it'll never happen.

Once we joined the St Maarten Yacht Club. We were able to get boats there to use for day sails.

We rented a 24' Trophy with twin engines in January 2017. Here is her email julia@caribbean-multihulls.com
She was able to hook us up with a boat that we picked up in Anse Marcel. Great day, circled the entire island. Not sure what will be available since irma or if Julia is still with caribbean-multi hulls. They had an office in Marigot.

You don't specify sail or power?

Do you recall what that cost you?

$500 us for the day plus fuel . We split it with our friends so under $300 us per couple. A little pricy if you were to go on your own. The boat was well equipped and had a GPS.

Not unreasonably. My goal, depending on the boat, locale, etc., is $250 to $400, but considering the sxm locale and the sounds of what you got, quite reasonable. Thank you for the info.

Power boat. I've worked with sail boats and sailing yacht club for years, some as a Committee Boat Captain of a power boat, but I still prefer good old dependable engines and to go somewhere in straight lines instead of zig-zags.
