Have been going for many years, mostly January and twice in December, in fact were there this past January for three weeks. Not sure what to expect in July, certainly this past January was not like other years so really looking forward to see what has changed since then. What might we expect in terms of things that are open and how busy might it be? What about weather?

It's still quiet, but we are way more recovered that in January. I expect we will remain quiet until after hurricane season, people are afraid. Our weather has been warm and breezy. But now we watch and wait for Beryl.

The whole island is still going to be quieter than normal for July, but there are a lot more things open than January. Weather is warm in July, the water is warm. I love going to SXM in the summer!

This is the first July that I haven't been there in 8 years. Our anniversary is tomorrow and I'm not there! frown

At least we were there at the end of May.

We love going in the summer (we usually go in June). Warm water, less congestion, usually easier getting seats at preferred restaurants. And 9 times out of 10, it's actually cooler in SXM than it is in TN at that time of year! Last month, we left a beautiful daily 84-86' in SXM to come home to a hot and humid 90-95' here in TN.

So sorry you can’t be there but that being the case, happy anniversary a day early, wherever you choose to celebrate the happy day. Didn’t you get married a few years back on AXA? Many happy returns of the big day. 😊😊

Respectfully,

pat

We used to always go in July before we both retired. I still have a week in July but move it to coincide with our 3 weeks in May. We enjoyed July and plan on going for a couple of weeks in July after our 3 week May trip in 2020 to celebrate our 50 and our daughters 20 anniversary. They got married in 2000 in July and we had great weather during our 2 week stay. You'll love July as we did.

Pat, yes! Eight years ago we married on Anguilla in July, spending a week there in a wonderful villa..and then another week in St Maarten.

Though I may not be in SXM, I'm going to get my French Food-On tomorrow evening at a wonderful place.....and have a souffle! (though it sure won't compete with what our wedding "cake" was...a Passion Fruit Souffle. agggghhhhhhh

Well we arrived today and as predicted it is very quiet. Long day particularly when the wedding party at the hotel in Toronto decided to share the festivities with the rest of us staring at 2:30AM and they were still going strong when we checked out at 5:30 to get to the airport. In terms of what is different so far the arrival area is at the opposite end of the terminal from where we went in January, since no checked bags we flew through and had our rental car and were checked in to the resort withing 45 minutes of touching down.

Lots of improvements for sure but still a lot to do. Had supper at Mary's Boon, probably went a bit too early as the DJ was very loud with the heavy thump thump of party dance music, so much for a romantic diner on the beach. The food was great though and perhaps after 7:PM the ambience would have been more our style. More to follow as the week progresses, hope it rains every night and not so much in the day.😀

Yikes, rain overnight and very cloudy this morning. We like to build up some negative calories in the morning because we all know what's going to happen later. Walked from La Vista to the causeway, ran both ways across and walked back. Started raining at the causeway, steady gentle rain with intermittent downpour all the way back. Coffee and croissants at Pelli Deli (dipping into the calorie bank already). Might not be a beach day but still great to be here.

Stay safe. Hopefully the island at least will get some much needed rain.

Weather has been great except for Monday. Biggest difference we noted though is the lack of Yaghts in the lagoon, did not know this but apparently they all leave in May for the Mediterranean and return usually in October. This has greatly minimized the number of bridge openings and trafic delays.
