We are heading down 7/17 and planning on spending 2 nights in Anegada. Can anyone recommend a car rental company and what the cost would be?
Last visit we paid $20 per person per ride to Flash of Beauty, and now with 6 of us, I think a rental might be more economical.

Thanks in advance.

DW Jeep/car Rental AKA (Dean Wheatley) Tel: (284) 495-9677. Will pick you up anywhere on the island. Reserve in advance.

If you join his rewards club, you will get upgraded and get unlimited mileage.

Warren, the points are used so you don't pay the Toll Tag fee on the Anegada Election Highway.

Our group includes 2 kids, so any Mary Jane type associations probably not what we are looking for if I catch your flyer reference correctly.

Still asking for a company that someone can recommend where we can rent a jeep without a driver. Anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks,
Dan

Go to Potters and Scooter Steph will be sitting at the bar. Talk to her and see what she has available. We got a little suv for two days and it cost us $85 plus $10 gas when we were done.

This reply "DW Jeep/car Rental AKA (Dean Wheatley) Tel: (284) 495-9677" is a very valid suggestion. Highly recommend Dean.

Dean Wheatley was awesome all three times we have rented from him. Ask him to have the roof and doors removed from the Jeep before you get there for an awesome experience.

Note that the landlines are still down on Anegada and the number given above for Dean won't work. Call his cell phone at 284-499-8765 or 284-544-3703, or his wife Henny at 284-344-1243.

He charged $95 a couple weeks ago for a large pickup with bench seats. In December, a 5 seat RAV SUV was $65.

I've also rented from Anegada Reef Hotel in the past, and they have been helpful to find me a car when Dean was soldout.

The gas station pump is finally back in service post-Irma so no more fill ups from a 1 gallon milk jug. Gas is still $5/gal.

No need to 'over think' the issue. Renting a vehicle is much cheaper and convenient in the long run. Make the loop ….. Flash of Beauty, Loblolly, Anegada Beach Club, Cow Wreck ….. then back to Neptune's, Potter's, Wonky Dog, Anegada Beach Hotel (and whatever I missed). No hassle of calling a taxi or arranging a pick up at a certain time. I've used Dean several times. If you call him he will leave the vehicle outside the gate at Anegada Beach Hotel with keys in it. Stop by his house on the way out of town to make payment (I've never done any paper work). The other options are fine also. Take it slow on the dirt road between Loblolly and Anegada Beach Club and Cow Wreck. Check the pond on your left for flamingos. You'll do fine.

We like to take a taxi. No need to worry about a designated driver. Saving a few bucks isn't really worth the liability.
