I think ive read they are up and running. Anybody care to share recent experiences and what to expect with Marys Boon? Visited bar once, never stayed? Seriosly considering.
We have stayed at a Marys Boon many times and love love love it! The rebuild , updates and improvements since the hurricane are amazing for what they did in such a short time. The staff makes you feel like family. They have a great restaurant and Bar and fun beach bar with great food. The rooms really vary from five to three star depending Di on your budget but all are nice. We get a mini beachfront normally but even the lower lobby rooms are large and ok if you don’t mind going downstairs and can de with a high window. For the price it’s fine. The best part is the beach! That’s why we go to the Caribbean. Not for a big resort. All rooms are just 20 or less steps to a white sand beach. If you book direct by calling or email you can normally get a better rate than from Expedia etc. We are going back in July. You’ll have fun regardless of where you end up.
We did not stay there, but did spend a day on the beach there in May. We also had lunch in the restaurant that day, and it was quite good. They have nice salads and other specials as well. The service was excellent; it was clear that they were happy we were there. The facilities that we made use of were in good condition, so I assume the rooms are as well.
We stayed at Mary's last year and really enjoyed it. Sadly the one bedroom unit that we stayed in and the one next to it were destroyed with the hurricane. Weird feeling to see that it was gone. A friend stayed there this year as she does each year and loves it! From what I understand, someone else is running the bar and restaurant. I have only heard good things. We found the staff very friendly. My personal choice is I would avoid the units that go underground. I think they call them lower units. Description will tell you there is no view, i.e. no windows. Nice that there are loungers on the beach just for guests. Great location. We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.
We have owned at Mary's Boon since the 90's but Irma took our room away. We were there for 17 days in April anyway and had a very enjoyable time. Great beach, good bar and restaurant and wonderful staff.
When we were on island this last May we had a great breakfast/lunch there. At the same time a nice couple showed us the room they were staying in. Looked very nice.
Right mix at right price. Weve stated at Mt Vernon the last two June’s and we loved it but as much as we could over look its warts until we got to our room we couldnt be comfortable booking it now knowing the situation outside the room to/from the car. Well check it out.
So, this will be way better anyway and all your inputs make it something to look forward to. We went the bar one time last June ariund happy hour and thats as far as we experienced.
We shiuld like the beach, planes, etc and pictures showed a pool.
30 minute drive to Orient for those days vice 11 minutes from Mt Vernon.
We wanted BSV and it was avail for about 100 more/night. Thats alot of beer/food.
Not sure when you booked for, but we always stay here at BSV during off season, as the price is good off season. During high season, it is a lot more expensive here.
We booked into room 114. Since we want a stove, not a hot plate, and a full refrigerator, we also booked into room 112. 112 is actually a "lockout" behind 114. Worked out very well and have already booked the same units for our December stay.
We had lunch there today. It looks in really nice shape. They were showing the World Cup on several TVs, inside and out. Weather is funky again today, a good day for an afternoon nap.
Call me wierd, but I don't want an ocean view at MB, and ask for a garden view, as those units have a more tropical/jungley feeling. We stay in a garden studio, not the junior studios, as those tend to be in less desirable locations, tho' you can't beat the price.
It’s been a while since we last stayed at MB and sadly, the unit we stayed in is no more thanks to Irma, but in honesty, I think any unit at MB - with the possible exception of the lower units - would be agreeable to me since no matter where you stay you’re but short footsteps to waters’ edge. But a room with a view does make it even better, and particularly so if you can hear the waves kissing the beach.
Respectfully,
pat
