Does anyone know if you can rent cell phones to use on the island like they have on St. Maarten?

Not sure what programs are offered on SXM. You can rent cell phones or buy a cheap one at either of the Island's mobile providers or authorized distributors: LIME: http://www.time4lime.com/ky/DigiCel: http://www.digicelcayman.com/ LIME has a "phone in a box" that is around $50 US and comes with pre-paid minutes and is popular with tourists. You can add minutes at stores all around the island.

Thanks for the response. Is this the same LIME that is used in the BVI?
SXM has a provider that you can rent the phone for $20 a week, $10 a week after that, and then buy time as you go. Calls are around $.32 a minute.

Same LIME (formerly known as Cable & Wireless).

Thanks everyone for your input. I will pass on the info to our friends who are going to the Caymans in June and need to keep in close contact with their family.
