Our first day at White Bay we had a chicken roti and a couple of beers at about 3 p.m. at Gertrude's. chicken roti was $15 beers were $5 a piece then yesterday went back to Gertrude's had a cheeseburger the chkn roti and 4 beers the menu was out with the same prices at the end the woman working there who was not Gertrude crossed out the original prices on our check added $5 to each meal and 10% service charge and 10% government tax so a cheeseburger a chicken roti and four beers cost us @ $70! When we questioned her about it she said because it was dinner but the food was exactly the same as lunch . . Was not too happy about that.
Today went to hendo's had an excellent Cobb salad a shrimp quesadilla and a Guinness no service charge or government tax was added whatsoever.

FYI, there is no such thing as government tax on food. She was full of crap.

In most places they call that theft! No tax on food in the BVI.

You said this was an employee of Gertrudes? I wonder if she knows this employee is charging these extra charges? Be interesting to ask her if she knows this is going on.

That's what my husband said but Gertrude was nowhere in sight. There actually we're a lot of things that have soured me on going back to jvd but won't go into, at least white Bay. I have chalked it up to just realizing that it is just a day spot for people that come and don't care how much they pay for anything like $5 beers no happy hours $15 hamburgers $24 fish tacos and the such I am very happy now at cane Garden Bay thank you very much.
