Wait and see how private all these islands become with these private resorts. Might be time to charter in the Bahamas.

Cruising the local waters here in SC and GA. Love the BVIs and miss the Tradewinds!

"Neither the Premier or Junior Minister Christian specified when the construction will begin."

Maybe we should hold our breath. 😉😉

I think the first time I heard about a resort being built on Norman Island was in the year 2000, we will see what happens this time.

It is somewhat laughable when you read the hype of the release. “There will be ‘several hotels and villas’” is just silly. Now there may be a hotel and several villas but there will not be several resorts on that beach limited location. Scrub tried that with tons of fanfare...went broke. I believe it is pretty dependent on guests using Marriott points these days. Everyone remember the government and developer hype about the resort and marina and artificial reef at nail bay?
With Norman’s limited beach access I would guess his approach would be more like Guana island. Upscale, exclusive enclave of several units that could be mostly rented to one wealthy party at a time.

In either case the ‘riff raff’ on charter boats will not be welcome ashore any more than they are at Guana, Necker or Mosquito. That is unless like Oil Nut Bay following a catastrophic hurricane they have few guests and need business for a while.

If I remember correctly, the resort was to be on the other side of the hill from the Bight. Not sure that is still the plan.

To have a successful high end resort you need a decent beach. Not sure that can be found on Norman.

I love the BVI News quote, "Their remarks come on the heels of the now-resolved controversy over the Willy T being booted from its usual spot off The Bight on Norman Island." Booted is a great term to use!
