Does anyone have any recommendations regarding places to stay in the Simpson Bay area? Preferably a hotel or motel, but the right airbnb would also be of interest. My wife and I have stayed on the French side, in Philipsburg, and have even visited from a cruise ship, but we have never stayed in this specific area. Been to Maho beach, Sunset Beach Bar, the casino, etc., but I would really like to get to know this portion of the island better. We are planning our next visit in December, so places that are closed now but opening up again in the fall would also be considered. Thanks!

There is the Atrium on Billy Folly road. I've never been there, but often thought of trying it. George

My favorite place in the whole world, Beachside Villas! Check out their website www.beachsidevillas.com for pictures of the units and the beach, which is marvelous! All the units are open and available for rent, as of now. Their website hasn't been updated to show it, but all units now have a/c in the living room, in addition to the bedrooms. Unlike several of the other places along Simpson Bay, they charge only 5% tax in addition to the room rate. Many of the other places along Simpson Bay charge 15% service charge in addition to the hotel tax (which by the way IS 5%, not more than that, as some places claim!!!) Depending on when you are going in December, the prices go up significantly, so if you can book the offseason rates, it is quite a good deal, at $175 per night for a one bedroom, plus 5%. Can't remember what the two bedroom rate is, as we always go by ourselves! If you have any questions, I would be happy to answer.

Totally agree with Carol. We love Bsv and would not stay any place else on Dutch side given a choice. We return for another stay with them in Oct.

Stayed at many in they area and island but Mary’Boon is our fav. Full service Hotel with lots of options on room types and rates. All rooms either have a full kitchen or kitchenette. If you haven’t seen Mary’s Boon lately it’s amazing how great it looks now after the hurricane. Even Better than before. They have new management in the restaurant and bar and the food and service is really great again. The staff is really wonderful. True Caribbean style hotel. But about anyone on Simpson Bay you will like.

Good to hear that the restaurant is doing well again. If Beachside wasn't available, I would stay at Mary's Boon in a heartbeat, depending on price..

Thank you all for the great suggestions. These are on our list for the future. It's one of the great things about St. Martin. There are so many different areas to discover. Other places with their lush all-in-one resorts are very nice, but what's missing is the 'discovery' aspect that SXM offers. There's literally no place quite like it!
