We stayed at Mt Veron for six weeks ending March 17th. While we were there they removed the green roofing from most of the buildings with flat roofs.under it. They were waterproofed with some kind of paint. The place where the wiring goes down to each group of units was covered and sealded. The replacement of the green roofs will come much later. The bridge walkways were all repaired if damaged. DI'd not match the existing railing but we're safe and secure. The plantings were making a comeback. In the six weeks we were there you could see alot of new growth and more blossoms. The buildings needed a good paint job before Irma more so now. But it will happen eventually. The pool area is a disaster, but there is easy access to the beach there. Some of the hand railings on the short cuts are missing. The lights along the walkways were out. We were given flashlights.
In our six weeks we saw a noticeable inprovement. It is going to take a long time to complete what they hope to get done. We are go with the flow people we ejoyed our time there. Made our reservations for 2019. Hope this helps.

There is a meeting scheduled for April 14 where a reconstruction/repair plan will be discussed. I'll post after that date with a schedule or at least some idea of how the reconstruction will progress. I plan to rent from StudioSXM for our Christmas trip, so I've been in contact with them.

@Loveheather--we are go with the flow people too, so I'm sure we'll have a great time no matter what.

Hey bluejacket, it seems our paths have not yet crossed. We have been on Orient Beach the previous 11 years before this past year, would have been 12-too sad. We spend several nights at Club O and a week to 10 days in the Mount Vernon complex. We arrive a couple of days before New Years. Usually play volleyball in the afternoons, when enough people show up. We will have to have a beer at the Perch sometime. Look for a 6 foot, 230 pound, 60 something farm kid, with a shaved head and a smile. HAHA!!

Thanks for the info. Anybody know if the security man is still on duty and. If the lower parking lot lights are working?

Also, does mt vernon have internet. I guess i mean broadband as each unit creates its own wifi which was quite good before the storm.

Also, how is cellular/data service on the island in general and orient area in particular. We have verizon.

I'm sorry. I totally blanked on that meeting. I'll send some emails and follow up tomorrow or later tonight.
