Best answer would come from calling AA direct and ask.

AA has scheduled flights from CLT-SXM beginning on Thursday, August 23. I can't say what reality will be, whether those flights will actually fly, or whether they'll turn into connections through Miami. The reality is that today, neither does American.

We are going down in June, and we have ran the flights on the east coast ( from phi, jfk, Boston, Mia), you name it we have looked at it. That being said, we have looked, one way down, even switching carriers on the way down, just to make connecting flights, same day without a layover just to get to SXM on same day. Right now that animal does not exist, within the norms of flying. The sad truth is, we all want get back to normal flights until the airport is fully operational again. What confuses us is, we use to fly into the OLD terminal, without jetways, heck, without a lot of the new amenities the airport use to offer, pre Irma. Go figure! If by some chance, you find the magic answer, please by all means, pass it along. We hope this helps.

We were surprised that in January we were able to get a United flight from Richmond, via EWR, and come back the same way, for a May trip to SXM. The price was almost identical to pre-Irma. We leave RIC at 0600 and arrive SXM at noon. Fingers crossed it won't be canceled.

Yup, looks like August 23rd is the magic date.
Nonstop flights from CLT on American is showing Thursdays to Sundays through September and gradually adding days until November 1st when there will be a nonstop everyday.
Of course, all of this could change at the drop of a hat.
Check out googleflight, its a great tool.
