Parties aside (I know that is a very hard way to start a poll but try and play along)....Do you prefer cruising with a bright moon, making the anchorage easier to navigate, or a new moon allowing for incredible star gazing??

We normally stay for 2 weeks, so we get both. But if I had to pick; new moon, love the stars.

It's been quite a few years since we have had the pleasure but...how can you beat the star gazing?? I can see the full moon anytime at home but ambient light denies me the full star experience. Not BVI related but if you really want the full star gazing experience try Lake Powell on a houseboat. Takes your breath away in it's glory.

Personally I'd prefer dark for optimum star gazing. Alas our BVI sail last month was mostly cloudy at night.

We did a trans Atlantic crossing two years ago. Couldn't find a darker place than the middle of the ocean right?

But a cruise ship is lit up like a Christmas tree so I never got to see very much astronomy wise.

3rd week in lunar cycle .... moon rises later so you get dark skies earlier then moon.
