I have always had fairly good data and voice service (Verizon) in the BVI (not USVI). I am heading down again in two weeks. Any feedback on what to expect regarding service lately???

No real problems on Anegada landbased for 1 week the first week of February, Verizon. Setting Point was fine.

I was on Anegada for a week mid December. Verizon worked everywhere but the west end. $10 a day is well worth it. Worked good on STT while there as well.

If you have Verizon and want to have cell access but not use a ton of data, look into their $40/30 day international plan. If I remember correctly it was 100 minutes of talk/100 outgoing texts & unlimited incoming/100 mb of data.

If we were to get an unlocked phone and use a local SIM, what is the local provider with the best coverage area?

For $10 a day Verizon mirrored my USA unlimited everything plan in the USVI's and BVI's. They even texted me a reminder each day to activate it.

Just throwing in a data-point. White Bay Jost Van Dyke is solid AT&T- coming off of St. Thomas USVI. As we were holed up there during the February winds/waves/rains/swell, it was nice to have.

In my experience, Digicel.
With Digicel, would I need to get the sim from them after arrival, or can it be purchased in advance through someone like mrsimcard.com? Once activated on Digicel, would it also be usable in the USVI?
