I would think that it as bad or worse than before with all the trash holding water that was left by Irma creating breeding stations.

But possibly (hopefully?) hard to tell with the reported Christmas winds still blowing?

Respectfully,

Yes, as long as it's windy it will keep them at bay but they are still out there.

Personally have not seen a mosquito in two weeks. So windy I can barely stand up! Flies, THAT'S a problem!

I found the mosquitoes very hungry when I arrived at the end of November and had no sliders or screens to keep them out.I went through a jar of Mosquito Milk in the first month. Now, with the strong winds they are much less prevalent - at least in my neck of the woods. (Cupeocy)
I really haven't found them to be any worse that other years.

We were there 3 weeks in January staying on Friars Bay road but travelled around and we didn't find them bad at all. Only 3 days of big winds. The workers were diligently clearing shrub off the road sides. Maybe even less mosquitoes than the last 2 years.

Seems like mosquitoes and cockroaches will withstand any natural disaster. Oh and Twinkies too

Now if we could only get the mosquitoes to eat Twinkies instead of people!

Ha twinkies, breakfast of champions. They can survive drought, floods, hurricanes, fires, and earthquakes. LOL

I wonder if I'm the only person that hates twinkies--but that was funny!

Deputydog, my sister-in-law lives in Siesta Key. Nice area.

Lurker, I have lived here for 25 years and you can't beat the weather. Siesta Key is a beautiful area, the #1 beach in the USA numerous times. I lived in NY and NH before I realized I hated shoveling snow!
