From what I have read it seems that prior to Irma there was security staff at the Club O area that would assure safety and prevent gawkers from taking photos. Since Irma, can anyone answer if there are any security concerns for those that wish to utilize their right to be clothing optional but are concerned about their photos being published on the net? I was just wondering because we are considering trying again to go for our first non-cruise vacation to the island this September for our 40th since Irma foiled our attempt last year. I realize that Club O isn't operational at this time yet I assume that area that they occupy(ied) is still clothing optional. Just trying to get enough information to make an educated decision from anyone that has been there recently or is currently there on this topic would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

As far as SAFETY security goes, there is nothing to worry about. Club O beach is still clothing optional, yes. Presently, there are no guarantees that you will not be photographed on the beach.

If we go to clothing optional beaches I have often wondered why we are afraid of people taking photos. I just dont want their cameras to break if they photograph my ugly mug. Lol.

Not a big deal now, but before we retired we really didn’t want our naked bods posted on the internet for obvious reasons.

My wife and I are in St Martin now and were at Club O today. Probably about 80-100 people on the beach today and 90% were nude. On days when a cruise ship is in, there are more people. Most of the cruise boaters come to Club O to enjoy the beach nude or topless but a few come to see the hurricane damage, have a drink at Perch Lite and then head back to the boat. As Carol said, safety is not a problem As far as photos being taken, I don't think much of that is happening right now. At Club O, we are not seeing the usual cruise boat gawkers as other years as Orient Beach is pretty quite now without any of the beach bars. I imagine most of the cruise boat traffic is staying in Philipsburg I think a person could be nude anywhere on Orient as the tourists here now come to be nude on the beach and the only other people are the local French who don't seem to care if your nude or not. I personally think that some people who come to Club O to be nude on the beach take the no photo thing a bit to far. Don't get me wrong, I'm not in favor of the gawkers taking my photo but what is wrong with having a photo of you and your partner enjoying the sun au naturel for your own vacation memories?

I love the replies where we make fun of ourselves. I too think the wide angle lens would be necessary for me! I don't really care about phoyos of myself but my wife is concerned because she is still employed. I told her that if her photo(s) showed up, it would just make her female colleagues jealous of how good she looks and her male colleagues would be jealous of me wondering how I scored such a babe. I'm sure once she gets over the initial shock of being nekkid in public, she will have fun with it.

Well we are going to try again to go September for our 40th. Irma may have interrupted us last year but I have faith. Going the 8th to the 15th renting a condo in Pelican

The photo issue has never really bothered us. We enjoy being nude and if someone wants to watch or take pix...so be it. Just our opinion
