Does anyone have any information about the work or lack of it being done on the terminal?

If you look back here, you will see several notes. I would estimate around 10 days ago, they finally started doing the work on the roof and they said at that time it would take until this fall, approximately, just to re-do the roof. Then, once it is weatherproof, then they can start work inside. It will be a very long time.

It was also reported recently that demolition has begun on the water damaged parts of the interior.

It was reported that it would take 15 weeks to finish the roof , so if my math is correct that would be 4 months , so that so that would be around July and they had said that they would be working on removing the water and mold damaged walls and other things while the roof was being work on . We will see if this is going to happen as stated or will it revert to ISLAND TIME .

Would like to return in the late fall but really don't want to deal with 2 hours or more, in a hot tent, waiting to depart. Any information available on this?

The new tents being completed are to be air conditioned according to the last update in the Herald. Should be good to go.

When we landed last Saturday, we pulled up to the gate and walked thru the end(refrigeration) area of the airport, then onto tents. No airconditioning at that time, but very quick to get thru as only 1 plane at a time.

I agree. Was very quick and orderly. More flights at the same time may be a problem.

One of the reasons more flights are not coming, they can't handle them yet.

Did you have checked luggage or carry-on? Wonder how that's being handled.

We took one checked bag in January & they delivered it by cart to the tents which didn't take long due to less airplanes landing. On departure they weighed the luggage on a giant scale & put sicky note on luggage with weight on it right near the boarding pass people. boarding passes printed quickly. My husband's carryon was selected as a homeland security check & we were on our way. It isn't bad under the tents waiting for departure. We went 90 minutes ahead. But we checked to see if Air France or KLM was boarding near our time.

Thanks jeepers. Think we'll check instead of carry-on based on your info. And good point to check what other flights may or may not be near to our times.

Friends arrived yesterday. Said it was the best immigration experience ever. 15 minutes from deplaning to out the door.
