Semanitcs. I think that the intent is to say that there were five restaurants which were stars, rather than that the restaurants were Five Star restaurants.

This is good news i suppose although id rather they come back with the structures in a much more minimalist fashion lile 10% of before and further back into the parking lot. Concentrate on well spread chairs/umbrellas with beach boys.

I would also hope the operations move back a bit from the beach. Last time I was there, two years ago, the waves were lapping against the footings at Kontiki (I beleive). You couldn't walk the length of the beach without getting your feet wet. Of course, this left a lot less space for chairs as well. Instead of driving pilings into the sand I hope the structures end up on the hard surface behind the beach and keep the beach area for chairs.

That would be on the road and parking lots then. Where would the cars go?

Yeah, but the somewhere is a problem. And you would need to charge a fee to pay for the shuttle and parking area.

Bahston--as far back as I remember them being there, they always called those restaurants the Five Stars. Advertising gig, I think, since they were all owned by the same people. Regardless, it is good they are rebuilding. Orient needs those restaurants. Any update on LaPlaya??

Last I heard from Bruno, he and Michael are working on getting the hotel back up and running first, and then the restaurant.

OK, I actually didn't know that Bruno was involved in the hotel.

Yes, I'm pretty sure he and Michael (his partner in the restaurant) purchased both entities. I could be wrong about that, but that's what his posts on Facebook have lead me to believe.

At this point Perch and Chez Leandra are open, ate at Chez Leandra yesterday, Leandra in the kitchen, daughter in law waiting on customers and son tending the bar two year old grandson supervising.
Soon to come are Le String, Sun Club and I think Good time Charlie’s. They will be operating out of containers for now until final construction is approved which will not be any time soon, expect the containers for a while.

There’s a great Facebook group called Orient Bay Village life, SXM, that has lots up to date information about what’s going on in that area such as places that are open or about to open. Many pictures from people that are now, check it out.
