I'm assuming after seeing the video from January 1st, that nude sunbathing isn't the best or safest idea?

Not sure I understand the thinking - why would sunbathing not be safe?

Club O is renting loungers and umbrellas, and Perch Lite is up and running. Sounds like paradise (albeit altered from years past) to me!

Not sure what the January video is, but there is some discussion that online at Club O facebook that they have had to move the nudists to one end away from the textiles as there was some issue and security being 1 guy couldnt manage it otherwise. Guess the textiles have no where to eat and drink.

Don't believe everything you read on Facebook... Friends are walking the length of the beach to mount vernon and back to Club Orient. Seriously?

Why not? There's nothing to prohibit that long walk. Have done it many times in the past.

I’m getting confused with two threads, same title, same person started, and is also posting duplicate on both... or am I seeing double? wink

As Carol said what safety?? There are no official security people but Cedric & Alain are there all day. We have observed some people taking photos but with discretion.
Discretion meaning personal photos of friends & partners.

So you're talking about walking the entire length of the beach nude?

Not sure whether that's what they're talking about or not, but since there apparently is literally NOTHING after Chez Leandra, not sure there is anyone to complain.

I just wondered why they'd be concerned about the safety about walking the entire length of the beach.

It would be interesting if one thing to come out of this disaster was to reestablish people's ability to be nude along the whole length of the beach. When I first went there in 2004, I was staying in the village and spent most of my time on the beach in that area, although spending some time down on the beach at Club Orient. There would be walkers along the surf line at any time in the day, but more so in the morning and late afternoon. Sadly, the last few years, it went away completely.

If the nude end can come back faster than the other parts, it may give them a chance to establish that tradition again and hopefully make it harder to push back later.

Right NOW, people can probably go nude end to end, because there are no restaurants, etc., on the beach. However, it will not last, and to expect that it will, is unrealistic. The 'five stars' are supposed to be starting to rebuild in February. Once some of them are open and more tourists start to come back to the beach, the gendarmes will be back, enforcing the no nudity rule. The gendarmes have been there enforcing it because that's what the local government wants. Irma did not change that. Those that want Orient the way it was 30 years ago should book trips soon, early and often, as it will not last.
