With the recent installation of the nude pool heater and near completion of the final clothing-optional side and garden view rooms renovations, Hedo has set itself into the 4+ to 5 star resort range and more sold-out weeks are expected throughout the year.

Happy 2018 here, there, everywhere!

The heated nude pool is a big improvement and will certainly see more use in the evenings. Looking forward to April to check it out for ourselves!

Awesome! So far the reports are all positive and no doubt you will appreciate the heater most at night for those post-midnight skinny dips!

I realize that Hedonism is in Negril, but this is a little unsettling.

Thanks for sharing. I did a similar advisement to all those going with me to Secrets Resort in Montego Bay for a destination wedding in May & a group trip to Hedo in June. Fortunately, the resorts ARE the only and final destination for all those going so once on property, no issues are anticipated as both have secured, gated entrances.

Did you notice this tidbit buried in the story?

"Violent crime, such as home invasions, armed robberies, and homicide, is common. Sexual assaults occur frequently, even at all-inclusive resorts. Local police lack the resources to respond effectively to serious criminal incidents."

Having visited Jamaica and stayed at the N resort, I look back on the day my wife and I walked a couple of miles down the beach and back in the nude. We were told it was completely safe to do so, so we just trusted the people that told us and we did. I remember seeing Jamaicans up on the paved path above the beach looking at us and thinking to myself "I'm literally totally exposed here, if someone had bad intentions for me or, even worse, my wife, there's almost nothing I could do to protect her other than fight with my bare hands". I suppose one thing in our favor was that we clearly had nothing of value.

Not wanting to spook her, I think that's about the time I mentioned that I was tired and wanted to head back.....

Sorry, I'm not sure this conversation is that relevant to this thread. More relevant to the Jamaica forum in general... But for me, when I'm in JA, I do stay on the resort.

Wow, I have ventured off property numerous times in my 14 visits but always with friends and/or members of my Krewe de Krazy Life group and we always have stayed together. It seems the issues in both Kingston (long term) and Montego Bay (more recent) have mostly skipped Ocho Rios and Negril thankfully.

I would hope any traveller to any country take precautions and heed government or local/regional warnings always.

In the early 70s with our parents, we prowled around Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, Dunns River Falls, the plantations, the hill sides, all day and into dusk in a rented Ford Maverick. We had nothing to fear as we looked for places where Bond movies were filmed.

In recent years, our visits to resorts were just that. We didnt leave the reservation.

On recent Ocho Rios cruise stop, went straight to caves and the falls and back to the boat. Didnt feel to comfortable in the cab or in the little town at the port.

The heavier British presence was a benefit in my view and the islands that have dismissed that interest seem to do less well.

Interesting PelicanPirate and thanks for sharing.

Perhaps the fact that I have been going to Hedo (with a group) every June since 2005 and probably another 5+ times via cruisestops or for property inspections, I am somewhat jaded because I have not done solo or couple travel within Jamaica outside Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, Port Antonio, Runaway Bay and Negril. And I have never had a desire to travel like that (nor would I) within Jamaica.

It is just sad and can be likened to travel issues within Pacific coastal Mexico. Just sad to see happen until the respective governments take control of the situations.
