The new photo galleries are now setup. Go to the main index of forum and scroll down.

In the photo galleries section, there is a testing forum to learn how to create your own gallery. Those galleries in the testing forum will be deleted from time to time.

Basically you go to the forum, press the button to create a new gallery. it brings up a message box, and below the message box is a paperclip called Image Manager. You click on that link to bring up the box to upload your photos to TTOL.

You can edit your own photo gallery, adding and deleting photos. Beecause of the nature you have a 30 day window to edit your photo gallery.

There is a known issue with some phones, especially the Iphone. Because of extra data that is store with the photo, the gallery will flip the picture sideways if it was originally taken in portrait mode. There are some free apps that will remove that extra coding and it will upload correct. But within the gallery the viewer has a button to rotate the picture when displaying your gallery.

The option to add photos to a post on the regular forums is coming soon also, they are two different things. The process to add photos directly to your regular forum posts will be similar to the gallery.

So feel free to do some testing in the Photo Gallery testing section.

Go to your gallery, right click on the photo that you want and copy the url, or look at the properties to get the url (depends on the browser). Then use the image tag here to add the image to your post.

It will be similar once I get the photo attachments added here, but they will be attached to your post, not in the photo gallery.

Actually I do not see where you posted it? Did you do it in the testing area, think maybe you did not complete a step.

Testing area yes....I think I got it right this time. I just didn't see the pic in the "preview post" so i thought it wouldn't be in the post smile

Ugh! I am just so bad with this photo posting stuff. Does it work with Mac? I thought I followed the directions step by step, but still no photos. frown

Should not make any difference between the computers. Also remember that depending on the original size of your photo and the internet speed that you have, it could take a minute or two for the pictures to fully upload.

I'm obviously missing a step. Attached the files, clicked done and 15 minutes later there is no gallery

Yep, skipped a step.

Clicking the done button that you see is for when you are finished attaching photos. You still have to press the post button to post your photo gallery.

Also you can go back and Edit your photo gallery to add or delete more photos.

Got it. But my picture is sideways as you said. I can rotate it, but it doesn't save.

Image editor does not show up after the first post, so you cannot add pictures in a reply?

And you can't add pictures to your album in the test site. Need new album every time you upload?

Correct you can rotate in the gallery as view, but it will not save it. It is a thing about extra stuff that in particular IPhone add. The only way we have figured out how to fix that is on the user end. They have to strip out the extra stuff and resave it before uploading.

You edit your original post in the gallery, that is when you can add additional pictures to your gallery. The gallery does not allow pictures in the reply comments section. This stops somebody from highjacking your gallery with their photos.

Correct. Click on your gallery, you will see an edit button. That is when you will see the image manager to add or delete photos from your gallery.

...and how do you add a pic to someone else's thread as a comment/addition?

In the gallery you can not add a photo to some one else's gallery. You can comment but not upload/add a photo to their gallery.

The gallery is not quite the same as posting on the regular forums for something like that.

I don't want to invade someone else's "gallery". I tried to add a pic to this THREAD as a comment ("posting on the regular forums") and didn't see the option

Am I incorrect to then assume there can only be pics in the thread attached by the OP and not other members?

You can add a picture from the photo gallery here, no problem using the image tag.

I have not yet setup everything to be able to upload to the regular forums yet. We have everything tested, but I have to enable it yet.

boucharda,...you can post a reply to someone's thread and insert YOUR picture into the thread if you have first created your own gallery. You then get the image address from the gallery and insert it into your post.

Ahhhhhhhhh.......minor detail. Thanks. I saw you added pics to an existing thread so I knew it was possible.
