As time goes on, it would be informative if anyone could provide info on restaurants, hotels, etc. that plan to rebuild in the future or simply plan to close for good. I know there are many variables involved for each individual situation, and many are still trying to figure out what to do. But it would paint a picture for what the future holds to know once each property makes what must be a very difficult decision.
Thanks,
Ed

As has been reported here, Dreams will not rebuild. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/cry.gif" alt="" /> And apparently Skipjacks will not either...

Do you know if Skipjack's will reopen in a different location or are they gone forever. They were a staple in Simpson Bay for us at the Royal Palm.

I personally don't know anything about Skipjacks. That is just what I have heard.

I have a personal friend on island looking into the status of skipjacks. When I find something out I'll post it.

Did the place just to right of Skipjacks get badly damaged too.
That place has been closed for a couple of years. If not gone, might be a good place for Skipjacks to open. Dennis sure made
Skipjacks thrive when he took over the management.

That building, which was once The Wharf and most recently The Harbor, is totally gone. Not a stick left.

Some of those decisions have been reached but some have not. Many are still dealing with insurance adjusters and insurance companies. In Grand Case, they have a lot of government red tape too. Some restaurateurs have quietly put their places up for sale, for the right price.

According to their Facebook Site. Bon Apetit on Billy Folly Road will not rebuild. I suspect Alexander's Kitchen above Bon Apetit will close as well. According to the BA FB page, Simpson Bay Resort is demolishing the building.

A lot will also depend on if the place had insurance, adequate insurance or if they are going the route of some and seeking donations in place of having any insurance at all. And, as Jeff Berger stated, there could be some governmental regulations (if enforced and/or followed) that may come into play also.

What I just heard from my friend on island is that Skipjacks sustained reparable damage and will reopen. Also that Temptation and Bamboo Burnies are moving to Simpson Bay.

There had been mention of the possibility of several of the Maho area restaurants moving into the Simpson Bay area.

I am in the throes of all of the insurance claims. Give all the people a little time, most will come back, if not will be replaced by others!

Have faith in Sint Maarten, Luis happened and it was built back better, will be the same with Irma!

You know we had Irma here also. Insurance is backed up royally. Adjusters were in Houston and then came here.
