Seems clear
The Governor declined to accept the call for elections
Asked the UP Party to form a government, reminded all about the rules for appointee's!!
Laid out what he expected of the new government and gave a deadline for a progress report.

Now if only the Fr and Dutch sides can talk about and execute any shared infrastructure that needs to be built - that would be even more progress

When I read the article, I didn't see anything about parliament not being dissolved and elections not being called.

I could be missing something, but the way I read this is that parliament has been dissolved, but prior to that there was a vote of no-confidence in the government (the PM and cabinet, who are not in parliament). So the Governor basically booted both and installed a caretaker government (PM who will select a cabinet - which would otherwise have been selected by the parliament).

As I say, I am not totally familiar with the system, but that is what I got from the story based on my limited understanding. I hope someone who has more understanding can clarify.

Minister of Justice Rafael Boasman is now Prime Minister until the new elections.

https://www.thedailyherald.sx/islands/70814-boasman-border-control-non-issue

IMHO there will be no elections and a National Government will take over and call for new elections a year or more from now.

I am not so sure that Boasman is PM. According to this story, parliament has passed a motion, but there is no indication yet that the Governor has signed off on the motion.

https://www.sxm-talks.com/st-maarten-news/parliament-wants-to-relieve-pm-marlin-of-his-duties/

The story also indicates that the Parliament is asking the Kingdom council to overturn the decree that dissolves parliament. So it is TBD if elections will be held.

Politically, it seems to me that if the Kingdom council overturns the decree, it would represent a lack of confidence in the Governor. Then it would appropriate for him to resign.

It looks like everything is still up in the air, depending on what the governor does. And Marlin is blathering on about how he never refused aid from the Dutch and making statements that Sint Maarten should not sell it's soul for so many pieces of silver. What a piece of work..

A couple of questions for the TTOL island government gurus:

1) What conditions are being made on the French side for help from Paris?

2) is there a French side equivalent Govt? A parliament?, etc?

3) i see the dutch want the marchaussee ( dutch military police/gendarmarie) involved, will that make them more like the French??

4) can the dutch/french police/courts pursue a suspect or investigate a crime on either side of the border? Can someone escape arrest/prosecution simply by hiding out on the other side of the island?

Marlin says it was a 'conspiracy' of the Dutch government and SXM officials that brought him down. Daily Herald story The story says that "They are going to control every move that the airport, the harbour, TelEm, GEBE ... all of them fall within the reach and scope of the Integrity Chamber.” He says that like it's a bad thing.

Wow this guy really needs some professional mental health counseling. Seeing how ridiculous his statements have been are a firm reason for the Dutch to be concerned about his ability to govern and to be a good steward of the funds that they are willing to send to assist in rebuilding. It would seem to me that there needs to be some strict oversight
