Heard from Wilfred Brooks Tues - Oct 4th - he still has no water or electricity.

Anyone with any updates on Fr side conditions?

I have tried for the past 3 days to contact my taxi driver friend (he is Dutch but is married to a French lady and they live in French Quarter) without success. We have spoken 3-4 times since the hurricane and as of mid-week last week they had no power or water. Initially he said it might be Christmas before they had electric. The last conversation he indicated it might be into March before they had power restored due to a main tower being affected.

I will continue to try and contact him and will report if/when I do.

I can't find the story now, but I saw a story in the DH the other day, that said 17,000 of 19,000 houses on the French side had electric. I thought that seemed pretty high. ...perhaps it's like Duke Energy's estimate of folks still out from Irma here in Florida, as of the Saturday after the storm. At that point, they claimed there were only 5,000 people still out in all of Florida, when we knew that there were at least 5,000 people still out here in our small town (all of it, in fact!). Two days later, they revised their numbers and said the outages were still 50,000....

I just spoke to Junior (French Quarter) and they do now have water but no electric still. They are being told another month but he expects it to be longer for electric. While they are very thankful to have water, he said sleeping without a/c at night is never easy.

Glad you were able to connect with Junior. I know you were worried about him and his entire family. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Thumbsup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Thumbsup.gif" alt="" />

Glad you were able to talk to him. And for sure, sleeping without a/c is awful. Been there, done that, don't want to do it again. It's been a month so far for them. Can't imagine that. I thought I was going to go absolutely insane, for the 4 nights we went, before we got the generator.

My parents live in Colombier and they got electric back a week ago. Still no water as of my last update from them a week ago - no phones either, so most of my info is from my relatives who have cell phones and drive. My family in cripple gate and cul de sac all had power before my parents.
