Has anyone been successful collecting for airfare or accommodations with travel insurance?

Normally, you shouldn't have to use your travel insurance for either in this situation. Have you personally been denied a refund from either air or hotel?

I am trying to get through to Allianz travel to cancel my insurance. Having a tough time because of Irma. Had no problem cancelling my May flights with Delta. They are going to refund my money with no problem at all <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Clapping.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/usflag.gif" alt="" />

You know, honestly, if you are trying to get the insurance to refund your money, for the travel insurance itself, I don't think they are required to do that. To me, that's kind of like your car insurance, if you don't have a claim, wanting them to give you back your money because you didn't have a claim. But I could be wrong.

From my experience, which may not apply to you, when you purchased the Allianz Travel Insurance product, there was a review period when you could cancel the insurance without any penalty. After the free review period, then you probably had no legal right to cancel the insurance and receive a refund of what you paid as premium.
If you can find a copy of the policy - which almost certainly was sent to you by email or hard copy in mail, it will have information about canceling the policy and the possibility of receiving some form of refund of premium.
In any event, you should contact them to ask the question. If you cannot get through on the 800 number, then send them an email using the form that is on their "Contact Us" page.
My experience with Allianz has been very positive - others have had negative perceptions - it never hurts to ask.
Good luck.

If you book any new destination, you can have the insurance policy transferred to your new trip.....I know, as I just did....

Good for you. Don't think they had to do that.

Thanks, Sammy, that was going to be my question.
I'm going where the weather suits my clothes.

We rebooked our Nov. SXM trip to another island, didn't need to collect anything from our travel insurance, so we asked if we could change the policy dates and destination. Travel Insured International said that we're allowed to change the policy once, and they took care of it immediately over the phone, then sent us the revised documents. BTW, we've submitted travel insurance claims to TII on a couple of occasions, and they paid promptly and fairly, very satisfied with them.

I had my flights covered through Travelguard insurance, and they allowed me to transfer the policy to cover the new destination that replaced our flight to SXM. There was a form on their site that is online, and I just filled it out and the next day I received a confirmation it had been transferred. I couldn't ask for it to be any easier than that.
