OFFICIAL DIVE BVI STATEMENT: SEPTEMBER 16, 2017
To all of our amazing Dive BVI Family & Friends,
Hurricane Irma ravaged our homes and our businesses. Dive BVI was not left out - we have suffered 90% loss of all inventory and major damages/total loss of 3 of our 4 vessels. We will need a few weeks to determine the exact financial losses and insurance issues.
While not all of our phenomenal employees can say that they will be able to return due to the loss of homes and children who need school, many of them will. Regardless, we will always be a family. And it is our intention to create a home where they are welcome back with open arms.
It is the intention of Dive BVI Ltd - opened in October of 1975 in Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbor, Virgin Gorda - to re-open for business alongside our community. We will establish a small space in or near the marina where we will be effective in the economy - meeting the needs of our residents, visitors, and support teams.
While we will not be accepting reservations for the time being, we will not allow Hurricane Irma to destroy what we have built. Within the next week, we will have an online store presence that will aid in our efforts to raise payroll, our retail store - once opened within the next 1-2 months - will be priced reasonably so that items needed will be available on island. Vessels that are operational will be put into service immediately to assist in moving people, aid, and salvage/underwater cleaning. It's time to get creative. We've survived catastrophic times before -
Irma has raised the bar but we'll meet the challenge and overcome. Our passion is our strength. Dive BVI Ltd is in business. #VGSTRONG, #BVISTRONG, #DIVEBVISHEDSTRONG #DIVEBVI
Yours, Casey, Jeff, Jim & the Dive BVI Team who makes it happen #letsroll

Best of luck to you, and thanks for all you've done thus far to help get things going. We've dove with you before (my family got certified with you), and we will dive with you again. As soon as possible. So please let us know when that is. And what else we can do to contribute in the meantime...

I think many of the hard working BVI people will be similar the folks at Dive BVI... after the initial shock and awe of the massive hurricane and its destruction, they will begin to look to the future... Can't do anything about the past, but will begin to design a new future. This will not happen overnight , but operators like Dive BVI will be there as the boating community returns. The boating community will drive their recovery. I look forward to seeing the new BVI , created by BVIStrong. We are still in the acute phase, but the recovery phase will begin soon.

Casey and Jeff have been working non stop to get aid and supplies to VG. These are amazing people who deserve our support. I am working with Casey and others on getting supplies to feeding stations. She is THE BOMB!

Thank you Dive BVI for all your hard work helping the Virgin Gorda community. My biggest regret from our last trip down this past July was not being able to book an excursion through Dive BVI. If we can make it down next summer, I will definitely support your business.
