Friday, Day 6
An early start into Phillipsburg for Breakfast at Barefoot Terrace. The launch entry has changed a bit, but still is at the foot of Court Square. Some roll, but nothing like the beaches along Pelican, Mullet and Cupecoy. Stopped in to see “our jeweler” Sam Karani at Kay’s , then drove up to Orient. It did not look like a beach day, but we persevered. By noon the sun was out, Cybershark had our chairs ready and it was a fabulous day on OB. Late lunch at Orange Fever – Steve tried a Burger – he is looking for the best burger on the island, one burger at a time. I am trying out all the mussels on OB, so far Orange Fever has the best! We did not leave the beach until after 5:30. Meandered down to see Bill and Elaine at Ocean Club, had a drink with them.
Saturday Day 7.
Another beautiful beach day. Steve had to have a massage first L’Aqualique at Pelican. Once thoroughly boneless, he rolled into the car for our now daily run to Orient. Having seen the loss of beach at Pelican and by Beachside Villas. We saw the same at Baie Rouge, Cupecoy is all rock, Maho has no beach. Stopped in Marigot for spices from the Spice Lady , (had to get a special order of lemon pepper – theirs has NO SALT unlike every brand in the US) Onward to OB, found Bill and Elaine and Jerry and Joan, even managed to get the snorkel on, not great visibility yet. Still it felt wonderful.
Dinner at Enolds on Fabila and Bill and Elaine’s suggestions. I had the grouper special and Steve had the Best hamburger so far! Setting was lovely, but even the Grand Case beach had large waves lapping up past the first row of chairs perched, somewhat precariously, on the sand. Enold personally spoke with us and thanked us for stopping in. I loved the little creole doll houses . Very neatly done. We will return.
Sunday Day 8
Moving day. We left Pelican, had breakfast at Zee Best – Scrambled Eggs, bacon for me, Eggs Benedict ( w/American Bacon) for Steve. Then checked into Azure Hotel. Met Valerie and Barry from Canada, our neighbors. What an idyllic setting. Simpson Bay Beach had long lazy rollers, nd was swimmable. Steve grabbed his noodles and floated – ahhh a Happy Man. We had a lazy day on the beach, ran down to Karakter’s for coconut shrimp, fried calamari and, Steve’s obligatory burger. He said it ran close to Enold’s. The beach is better, one can walk all the way to Beachside Villas, but still not past. Pictures included below
