Hello, me and my wife will be traveling to Curaçao the end of October. I know some of y'all on TTOL have traveled there quite a bit, so this is our first time to the island. I was wounding who you use for a car rental company, or are they all basically the same? We will only be there a little over a week, so any incite or advise would be much appreciated! And we are renting a ocean side villa that is 9.3 mile from the airport. Thanks

Post your question or research car rentals on the TripAdvisor Curacao forum. Lots of info there.

We use Budget and pick up and register in the airport. It has always worked for us, some on T/A prefer local rentals. I do on SXM. Just make sure you either take pics of the car before you take off.

We are also traveling to Curacao at the end of October and have booked with D&D car rental, a local who came very highly recommended. I emailed him and told him exactly what we wanted; Daniel responded the very next day, and we're all set.

not a car question, but which airline did you use?

We are booked with American Airlines out of Charlotte, NC. We usually fly Delta to SXM, but they don't go to Curacao. American seemed the only viable option.

Thanks irish1223, we had also heard of D&D’s as well. I think we will give them a try. We are also flying thur Ctl as well, but are taking a layover in Miami, because we don’t want to arrive at 9:53 at night. Are y’all also going thru Miami as well?

If you all rent a car, take a trip to Karacter's It's the original owners of Karater on Simpson Bay. His name is Jaritt (forgot the wife's name). They are on Coral Estates, need a car, it is west of Willemstadt. Food is fantastic. They are rated # 6 of all restaurants in Curacao. On a beach, fantastic sunsets!

That is great, we took the same route as you, but at flying down the day before and are also overnighting in Miami. We didn’t want to arrive at 10pm so we broke our flight up. We are staying in a villa just above Karakterk’s, we knew ahead of time that is was owned by the same owners as in SXM. Drop by and see us, we want be hard to spot, just the two of in our fifties! So let me ask you, where are y’all staying in Miami? We haven’t booked a room yet, just looking around for on now.

Awesome! We are not staying over in Miami. Our flight leaves CLT at 7a and we have a 3-hour layover in Miami before heading on to Curacao. We will arrive in Curacao at 3:40p on Saturday. We will be at Avila Beach Resort, but will definitely want to visit Karakter's. We'll keep an eye out and you'll probably look just like us. Will keep in touch!
