I am sure Nutmeg has no power, but anyone heard from her? Carol?

Have not heard from her, nor seen her online. But also she is in the medical field so maybe working 24 hour shifts.

Nutmeg is fine. They rode out the storm in their condo. All of the buildings are fine with minimal damage. The generator is working as well. They have very limited if any communication capability as does most of the east end of St. Thomas. I will update as I get more info but it is sporadic to say the least.

Text or Messenger has worked best for us to keep in contact with everyone. Phones are intermittent.

Latest update really just verifies that the complex suffered only minor damage. The generator is only being run a few hours per day to conserve fuel. It could take months for WAPA to restore power. Roads are being cleared which will help with mobility. There is hope the airport will open for commercial traffic by Thursday or Friday.

Last update we got was that all were well following Maria. Water got into a lot of the units because of sliding doors being blown out during Irma. But no structural damage. Unfortunately generator use is being drastically reduced due to uncertainty of fuel availability. Fuel was previously getting to St. Thomas via Puerto Rico. But as you are all aware Maria produced wide spread issues on PR. The two lifelines for STT and STJ were PR and STX. Maria effectively ended that. All 4 islands are now largely crippled. Any progress made to restoring power and communications on STT was wiped away with flooding from Maria. It's a very tough haul ahead for all Virgin Islanders, including Nutmeg. The good news is they are safe and unhurt. I'll post more updates as I receive them. But with communication spotty at best we were told not to expect frequent updates unless something significant changes.

Will do Carol. I haven't had any direct contact with them up to this point. All my updates are coming from our condo association president. Their conversations are usually very brief when they are able to connect. I'm sure that what cell signals they are able to get are fairly unreliable.

Oh. You guys worried about me? This is a heck of a deal. Just able to get some internets today. Cell and text is still iffy. Even when we do get phone calls, we don't always want to talk to people. Currently fighting fuel issues and power issues. I will check in when possible. Carol: I tried sending you a text to a number I had. Guess it wasn't a good one LOL. There will be a long recovery period here and I hope we get there. Thanks everyone.

Actually, I did get the text, but I wasn't at all sure it was from you, as I don't really DO texts.. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" /> Glad you're OK.
