This photo is labeled as the Dutch side but I am quite sure that it is Orient Village centered near the old L'Hoste. You can see how far the water came up by looking at the sand. Bikiki appears to have been leveled so I suspect the other beach bars were, as well.

Photo 17 is definitely Orient Village and the old L'Hoste and La Playa. Have stayed there several times, last in March 2015. So sorry to see all the destruction. Our prayers are with everyone there.

I hadn't seen this short clip of Orient Village before this morning.

This photo is on the front page of the New York Times as well as our local paper here in San Antonio. Hard to believe that the prime photo about the damage on SXM is of the one place we stay every time we visit SXM, namely La Playa (aka, L'Hoste). Instad of wondering what might have happened to our favorite spot, it is plainly evident in this photo. They were in the midst renovating the front four buildings with a target date of December. We stayed in the back building in May. It is heart-breaking. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Sad.gif" alt="" />
