Heard yesterday they are building 20 story apartments next to Bar Code. Also what was the name of that product that relieves itching? Has a French name?

They have been building a lot of student housing in that area, not sure if that is the case here.

I have voltarene that I purchased in SXM, that works on the mosquito bites I get here at home. There is another one that the name escapes me, someone will pipe in I am sure.

Are you thinking of Biafine?
Don't know about the building.

I believe it is called Biafine. We learned of it at the French Pharmacy in Cul de Sac. Ask the Pharmacist.

Spray your legs with deep woods off at 3 pm if you are anywhere on the beach or the nearby grassy areas because mid afternoon is when the sand fleas emerge...and you will not feel the bites until the next morning

"voltarene" is a prescription analgesic used for muscle and ligament pain available in pill, patch and cream form. Much cheaper in SXM than USA.

Thanks for giving me the update on voltarene, Scubaman, I have to say I use it most for mosquito bites, but I have other uses that I can use it on now as well.

Hi, Tim,

The product you're looking for is definitely Biafine and if you're staying in the usual area you can get it at the Maho Pharmacy.

It is actually a (sun)burn product which was highly recommended to me a few years ago by another user here. I managed to get my first SXM sunburn in over forty years and I was in agony so I posed the question here on TTOL and it was highly recommended. I couldn't believe how it immediately relieved the pain.

My understanding is it's not an otc product here in the States but is often prescribed for cancer patients' use on radiation burns. A few months back it was also suggested for bites and stings and it really does work for that, too.

I can't imagine a building of that magnitude in the Jordan Village area but I can't imagine a lot of what's been approved on the island of late, and in the areas they've been approved but I guess we'll all find out in the months to come.

Respectfully,

pat

Here's the web site for Jordan Village housing:

I'm not sure if those are the buildings you are referring to. They are way less than 20 stories.

My wife and I live in St. Maarten during the winter and in the Boston area the rest of the year.

The owner of The Spaghetti House told me 20 stories but maybe she got it wrong. Thanks for the info on Biafine.

Right now they are building something beside bar code, but not 20 stories. They are clearing away land in front of the college across the road from Starz. That is where they are saying 2 multi story buildings are going to be built. I've heard 10 story and also 20 story. Time will tell. We all know how the rumor mill works here, but the land is definitely being cleared for something.

Biafine and should be available at just about any pharmacy. Just ask the pharmacist or assistant. I know Simpson Bay Pharmacy has it.

It comes in 2 sizes. Get the big one as it is the best bang for the buck. Maho has both sizes and is cheaper than the Simpson Bay Pharmacy. I have only seen the small tube at the Simpson Bay one.

I may be wrong....but isn't the owner of the Spaghetti House the one and only Enzo LaRosa??? Did he sell again?? Curious minds want to know.

The full strength one that we all buy in St Maarten isn't shown on Amazon. Just the diluted down version of it. Not sure if it will give the same results as the prescription strength one does.
