We found most of the Markets early on in our stay. We visited and shopped at Buck’s at
the Marina, RTW Wholesale, Supa-Value and Rosie’s. Making a long story short--we
found Buck’s and RTW to be the best best for us. Bucks has a good selection of almost
everything and a nice Deli where Fresh Salads are available daily. Cole Slaw, Potato
Salad, and Crab Salad were among their daily offerings and were very good. For items
we needed in quantity--like wine--3 bottles of Jacob’s Creek Chardonnay (Austrailian)
was posted 3/$19.17 on the shelf but always rang up 3/$17.19. The wine selection for VG
was good as were the prices. Soft Drinks were $11.25 a case compared to $13-14 at the
other stores. 2-1/2 half gallon containers of Dole Pineapple juice went for $7.10--less
than at the supermarkets, and 3 containers of Pringles also provided substantial savings
although I can’t remember the price. Anyone staying for more than a week in
accommodations with a kitchen would do well to check out RTW early on. Their prices
for liquor and liquers also were lower but you have to buy at least 2 of the same product.
Now--bear with me on this. Last year we decided one day to visit the Crawl at Spring Bay
National Park. A BVI native and her son were swimming and my wife struck up a
conversation with her and she told Marie about this “Bakery” that had fresh roasted BBQ
Chickens available every evening along with fresh baked bread and pastries. She didn’t
know the name or the street but explained where it was. We looked for it extensively but
couldn’t find it and gave up. This year early on another local in conversation told us
about the same place. Didn’t know the name but gave good directions. We followed the
directions and still couldn’t find the place. After doing the street 3 times, it is in a
residential neighborhood, I stopped and asked some locals gathered on a corner if they
could help us. They all laughed and said we had passed it--and it is on a one way street so
we had to go around again. Finally, on the fourth pass we stopped at the place we were
told to and it looked like a big house but with no windows in the front-just a door. We
had arrived. No sign of any nature. What turned out to be a Company Delivery Van in
the parking lot--completely unmarked. I asked the person behind the counter what the
name of the business was and she replied M & M Bakery. I asked what the name of the
street was-as there were no signs for that either-and she replied that the street has no
name--it was just a path before they opened up and after they did they came along and
paved it but still no name. Finally, I asked the hours. They open at 6:30PM in the evening
and stay open all night closing from around Noon until 6:30PM. This place has the best
and most tender BBQ Chickens for $10 you will ever find. We bought 3 the first night
but 2 fed 6 of us with a few morsels left over. Fresh Baked Bread and Breakfast Muffins
and Pastries and Donuts. All very good. It was worth persevering to find it! The no-name
street runs one-way inland from the main street to the Baths and will be found directly
across from the Napa Auto Parts Sign. There is no one way arrow to mark the street
coming from the Marina but it is clearly marked coming from the Baths. Try it--you will
like it!!! Has anyone found this place previously? I don’t recall reading aobut it.
