Hello!
12 years ago we had been visiting the island every year with our cousins who stayed a month during the winter. We had become friends with their neighbor, an English woman and artist named Mair. We are headed back next week for the first time in a while and wanted to know if anyone knows how to get in touch with her or if she has gone back to England. Would love to see her again!

I searched last year for her as well. I was told at the store at Club O that they have no idea where she may be or when she will ever return. They sold quite a few of her prints and no longer have any. We have one and wanted to buy another. Hope someday to get one.

I just got a response from my cousin who said she hasn't been to the island and is not flying for health reasons. Oh well, we had the best times with her at Orient beach all day long then back to Grand Case to watch the sunset. I loved her little apartment! We have a few paintings she gave us and some music she composed as well. Good times, not forgotten!

Mair Pattersun lives in southwest England. Although she has family in the US, she is not able to travel like she did. She joined us in Parisa 3 years ago and we had a delightful 4 days together. At one popint, while we were waiting for our train at Gare St. Lazare, she played the public piano. She is an accomplished pianist as well as a painter. We purchased a signed print from Mair on our first trip to SXM in 2000. We met her at the Manager's Cocktail Party at Club O. We have looked for her every trip since but to no avail.
The print is a vibrantly colored water color looking toward the beach from Club O with the various shades of blue in the water and the sky offset by the white of the beach, the various shades of green of the foliage and the bright yellow umbrellas. A few years ago we had it professionally framed and it now hangs in our bedroom to remind us of our favorite beach resort.
Given the opportunity, we also would likely purchase another print but are happy knowing we have at least one of her beautiful pieces of art.
