Does anyone know of any restaurants that offer a free meal to the captain when sailing? I know Cynthia on Jost Van Dyke used to, but not sure lately. Thanks.

The "captains" who show up on a regular basis with guests in tow eat free in a few places . The "captain" on a once a year or so visit pays.

We are barebeaters and he always gives my husband (our captain) a free meal. Sometimes both of us.

Should only be given to the Captains that visit the restaurant frequently with groups of guests. Why should a once in a lifetime visitor "Captain" expect a free meal !!

Maybe because they are bringing 7 other people with them when they could have suggested another restaurant? If the restaurants' policy is Captain eats free, what difference does it make how many times they visit.
Drink all day at home, your friends worry about you; do it on vacation and they say "what a good time you're having". Save your friends needless worry, travel more!

We have been down 22 times and we always take our crew to Potter's, maybe that's why he gives us a free meal. We don't ask for it, it's just what he does for us. We have become friends through the years, maybe it's just what friends do for friends.

It makes a big difference. The Captain that keeps bringing the guests once a month or so adds a lot to the bottom line.

Obviously the sole "rule maker" is the restaurant manager/owner.
