Is Willie still working at the Perch?

Man i sure hope so!!!!

Willie is not there now. We were told she was out for medical reasons. Others said she was just taking a break. Our friends said the drinks were not as good and there wasn't the usual line at happy hour. (We don't drink but she made a very good virgin BBC)

I can confirm that Willie is back. I want to say she was back on 7/5, but I'm still in denial that vacation is over and my brain is a little foggy.

While I didn't ask specifically if she was out for medical leave, in general conversation it sounded like she was out on holiday. She will also be out late August for a trip home to Holland.

She cut her hair since we last saw her and looks great and was smiling more than in the past. I think marriage is working for her

Willie is currently doing her magic at the Perch. The Perch will be open through most of the resort shut down (8/15 to 10/1) but it will be closed for a few weeks in September for renovations.

What kind of renovations will they be doing to the Perch, do you know? Does that mean that there will be no place open at Club O serving food or drink during that time, or are they switching off between Papagayo and the Perch?

They are replacing refrigeration units and painting the whole place as a minimum. All the hats, flags etc are down. Not sure if they will open Papagayo during the 2 week period in September. We'll tie down some more details in the next day or two in case anyone is planning on being there during that time.

Wait no perch in September? What dates as we just booked 9/17-9/24. Hoping to be at Club O with chairs/umbrellas/perch bar. Understand that the rest of Club O is close during that period.

We are asking around trying to find out the details but have got mixed answers. Club O hotel and Papagayo are definitely closed from 8/15 to 10/1. The Perch will generally be open 7 days a week from 11 to 4-ish (with 2:30 to 3:30 HH) during the resort closure but will be closed for renovation at some point. No one so far has a concrete answer to when. Carlos the mgr of Papagayo indicated that they may not close the Perch until after 10/1 but it sounds like it's not tied down yet. Willie is back today from her weekend off so we'll ask her.

Jim_Laraine do let us know as we are booked for SXM and Orient Beach 9/17-9/24. Hoping the Perch is open then!

Hi guys, we spoke to Willie today and unfortunately the current plan is to close the Perch 9/8 to 10/1. Papagayo will not be open either. Ouch....

I would hope that if the renovation is finished early, they will reopen but that was not mentioned.
Chair rental and security will be available every day. They have contracted with on outside security company for additional support to let some of the Club O security take vacation.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. We are here till 8/31 if we hear of any changes to their plans we'll post right away.

Just a minor update. Happy hour is now from 2 to 3 and the Perch "officially" closes at 3pm. Actually today 3pm was way to early for them to close. They had a good crowd. Also the Perch will be closed on Mondays until the Sept 8 closing for renovation.
