We will be on a cat over the July 4th weekend/week.... Can anyone suggest a good place to grab a slip or mooring ball for a couple days so we can enjoy the July 4th celebrations? Excited reading about the month long festivities culminating on July 4th!

I understand that there are fireworks in Cruz Bay, but it's notoriously difficult to anchor there. Maybe find something on the east end of St. Thomas with a view of Cruz Bay?

The party is in Cruz Bay. This is St. John's Carnival with J'ourvet and parade It is a big time! I would watch the fireworks from Cruz Bay and take a mooring ball at Caneel Bay.

Cheers, RickG

A little more detail ... you could take a ball in Western Caneel Bay in the middle of the day, then dinghy south and then back east into Cruz. It's a pretty easy turn around Lind point. There's a dinghy dock near the shore where the ferries tie-up. Bring a large dry-bag if you're gonna shop, and a hand-held light for the dinghy. You could catch the activities, and then dingy back after the fireworks are over. It's often wetter on the ride back.
