Hi everyone!
I haven’t been posting much here, but haven’t forgotten this wonderful board, and wanted to share our recent trip pics before more time marches on. We spent a week at Sandcastle (our 9th time there ) and then a week in a villa above CGB. First time renting a villa with friends. It was a wonderful experience and VERY relaxing!
We also tacked on a night at Tamarind Club at the beginning, and 2 nights there at the end. We’ve been flying into Beef Island in recent trips because that’s where we’ve been finding the best price and flight times from CT, so Tamarind is close by and staying there gives us an opportunity to have a lovely dinner experience at Suzanne’s at the Secret Garden, not to mention enjoying the great food at Tamarind, lazing around in their big pool, and generally, enjoying the friendly vibe.
Highlights:• Waking up our first AM and finding our friends from Reno unexpectedly staying at Tamarind, too! The 4 of us took an unbelievable fast taxi ride to West End to make the 9:45 ferry in order to spend most of the day on beautiful White Bay.
• Being welcomed back by all the great staff at Sandcastle. That first STRONG painkiller made by Mic. Ring game success. Always fun to get cheered on by total strangers! Lovely, delicious dinners at Sandcastle.
• Wednesday lobster dinner at Seddy’s. Great food, great ambience, and great service! A medium lobster was double what I needed! Great lunch the next day.
• Bushwackers at One Love, burgers at Jewel’s.
• Reconnecting with Bob and Sande from Maui, and Sharon (sharonnightqueen), and ilon friends too numerous to name them all (and I don’t want to leave anyone out). Great times every day!
• Seeing Michael Beans on the beach at White Bay. Hope he’ll come to CT this fall. Last Sept. was awesome in Simsbury! We listen to his CD’s all the time, but don’t see him perform in the BVI because his season is finished when we’re there.
• Reuben playing at One Love and Bananakeet.
• Lunch at Stanley’s (most importantly, drinking at Stanley’s – the Stanley’s specials are THE BEST).
• Bob and Heather (from Reno) keeping us laughing!
• Bob’s steak pizzaiola. How cool is it to stay with a friend who loves to cook almost every night! My contribution was making quantities of key lime martinis, and cleaning up.
• Snorkeling at Brewer’s. I saw the biggest school of blue tangs ever. Good coral too. No turtles.
• Dinner at the Secret Garden. Big welcome back from Suzanne and Jim. Watermelon sangria and passionfruit martinis. Rack of lamb with pomegranate chili sauce. It is sooo hard to narrow down a choice from Suzanne’s wonderful menu. Good thing we walk back up the hill to Tamarind to work some of it off. Jim always wants to give us a ride (sooo nice! Jim), but we haven’t given in yet. There’s always Tamarind's pool to cool off in before bed!
Lowlights:• Having to go home.
• Cloudy skies. Lots of haze (lots due to Sahara dust, apparently). Only saw blue skies a couple of times. But not much rain chasing us indoors, so that was OK. Our friends at home sure don’t feel sorry for us if we tell them it was mostly cloudy.
All in all, one of our best trips ever!!
