My daughter just found out she has gestational diabetes (she had with the first pregnacy too). She is bummed because she is going to have to be careful over the holidays. Any good desert recipes I could make for Thanksgiving and Christmas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Colleen

Hi Colleen, there's a show on the FIT network called Blaine's Low Carb Kitchen, if you google and find his web page there should be tons of good ideas. It's one of the few shows both hubby and I can watch together.

Contessa posted some diabetic recipes quite a while ago - go back to the top of page 37 here or do a search for "diabetic recipes".

There are plenty of sites out there with easy to prepare foods for Diabetics. It's no longer a secret society! Thank Goodness!! Here are a couple: www.splenda.comwww.cookinglight.com and many more. Do a search for Diabetic cooking and you'll have more than you need!! Good Luck!! Contessa

Thanks everyone, I have found a lot of them on line, but just wanted to know if any of you have tried some that are already proven to be really good.

I know these are not low fat suggestions, but since it's the holidays we can splurge. Real whipped cream has no carbs, and makes anything special. If you don't go heavy with the sugar, you're ok. I have used pudding mix as a base for a few good last minute things, and the sugar free versions are pretty good too. Try layering like a parfait with some whipped cream and a fruit or toasted nut topping. Also, dark chocolate is not a high in sugar and is one thing my friend w/Diabetes can enjoy.
