I'm just coming back from my first charter with Moorings. I have chartered many times with Sunsail, always had good services, and I'm a little disappointed with Moorings. The boat was great and the RT Base is modern and well kept. But the service was not what I expected. At the beginning, they were supposed to call us on the phone to advise the boat was ready, but they forgot. We wait many hours at the pool, and at 6h30 pm we had to go to the desk. No explanations, no apologies, they just forgot. The next morning, the boat briefing was scheduled at 9 am, but the guy arrived at 9h40. At the end, we scheduled a debriefing, but it never happens. We wait one hour on the boat, and did not see anybody. Our general feeling is we were not important to them. Overall we had great vacations, and I will book again with Moorings or Sunsail, but they have to work on their customer services. I know it's Island time, but...

Consider TMM next time; we've had nothing but wonderful service from them in all our charters!

I have learned that the way to get what you need from the Moorings is keep after them. I find my boat briefer out on the dock and lead him/her back to the boat. When waiting for a boat assignment I check with customer service every thirty minutes. The folks that work at the Moorings do care but they are on island time x10.

Somewhat off topic, but last time we were at the Moorings/Sunsail base in March during a pretty busy time the docks were full of boats and there was almost nobody around. We were asking ourselves if all was not well at TUI?

I've found Tipping works - usually once I get the boat briefing, I'm off the docks. If I fly in the night prior, I'll try and get a briefing that day so I can be off the docks 1st thing in the AM.

Having sailed with the Moorings many times for over 30 years in many different locations in the Caribbean, I feel very badly about your experience. Perhaps I, like others who have commented, am not shy about going to the desk and asking frequently about our status. But I could share countless stories about unbelievable and heartwarming service provided by the Moorings staff while we were out on the water many miles from base that would make you think I am being paid by or work for the Moorings (Neither!) It is those real experiences that keep me going back to the Moorings. I am sure that the other charter companies mentioned in other posts offer the same level of service, but I am a creature of habit and go with what I trust. Plus, I love being warmly greeted by my first name each time I return, especially at the restaurant!

I feel you French..been chartering with Moorings for 13 years. Some of the more experienced staff are gone. New Management. They are trying new things. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Frustrating for sure.

I have chartered with Moorings... Not bad when I first did years ago.
My boat is with TMM... Customer Service is important to boat owners... service to owners keeping boat in great condition and service to OUR customers (remember, owners of TMM yachts are not guaranteed income, so repeat charters are important to owners as well as TMM).

Consider BVI Yacht Charters. http://www.bviyachtcharters.comWe have used them for the last six of our 16 charters and we love everything about them. You charter a specific boat, you have friendly helpful and knowledgable office staff. The boats are well maintained and clean. The dock staff is thorough and helpful and a delight to work with.. We have had nothing but good experiences with them.
