A post about One Mart got me thinking that I should query this group about self provisioning options.
We have always self provisioned. We get in early on a Saturday, take our time having lunch in town, shopping, stocking the boat and then doing a sleep aboard. TMM last time was great in that they did our boat orientation that night and we were able to leave the dock by 8 am Sunday morning.
Our very first year (2012) we shopped at Bobby's and swore we would never go back. Food was out of date, stock was low or non existent, and the overall look of the store was dirty/dingy. Ever since we have gone to Riteway and been happy.
I think I read somewhere that Bobby's has been refurbished. Is this true and what is the current consensus as to the best store to use if you self provision?

We do not do a lot of cooking on the boat so we don't need food that is dated. Bread packaged lunch meats and snacks mostly. The bulk of our order is water and drinks. It is more expensive I guess but we eat ashore every night. The ladies say it is their vacation too so no cooking. Needless to say we have no gourmet peeps aboard just party animals. So Bobby's works for us. All the Best Steve

Well....deli meats and bread would definitely have freshness dates!
We have used Riteway for the last few years and have been very happy with them - we do shop for our own meats and fresh produce but they do all the snacks and other things like snacks, condiments, cleaning supplies, TP, paper towels, bottled water, etc.

2012 was the low point for Bobby's. Elton Leonard, the owner was in a cash pinch from getting UPs Cineplex built and operating and let the grocery business deteriorate.
Bobby's closed for several months in 2014 for a total makeover. Have not seen it myself but reports are that it is a vast improvement.
