The tax on cruising yacht is slated to go way up. USVI yachts will be paying big time to come to the BVI. Government continues to tax everything. Air will be next. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/duh.gif" alt="" />

WOW! Tripple for BVI boats and X4 for USVI based boats. Family of 4 for 10 days out of the USVI will pay $640 plus Parks Trust fees. Oh yes, plus another $10/person "environment fee".

What are the new fees? Looking at what you posted a Cat with 10 people would pay over 1300 dollars all in for 7 days coming from the USVI? Moorings are going to get busy in the USVI! I predict a small economic boom in the SVI!

Any idea when they would implement the increases? We are scheduled in July. Would not be a deal breaker but would rather spend the money with the locals rather than give it to the government.

As a sailor (with my own boat) it looks like they want to get revenue from the USVI charter boats who buy groceries, liquor, etc. in the USVI and then sail in the BVI's?
Last year it was something similar when they wanted to charge charter boat crews and owners to work on their own boats in the BVI's (a permit fee).
Every year it seems like it is some new fee, tax or permit cost in the once friendly BVI's. Geeze.
