Have you seen the new "Environment and Tourism" $10 arrival tax passed by the BVI Gov...?
Any comments?

Another tax against the tourist. BVI government thinks tourists don't care about the money they spend. They are dead wrong. For me as a villa owner, they just raised the villa rental tax from 7 to 10%, , VRBO/homeaway just added a "service" tax of about 6%, USVI added a $10 tax to leave USVI, BVI added departure tax of $20, There are many other taxes. fees, charges etc that have been added.
The golden goose is dead. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/duh.gif" alt="" />

They apparently think that people will continue to pay and pay and pay, regardless of how much they increase taxes.

All governments seem to feel entitled and behave that way.

I do agree that the governments in the Caribbean see tourists/visitors a major source of income for their pockets. The $10 from the USVI is a Port Authority "fee" to help pay for the various facilities they look after. But you are right, I don't really want to go to the BVI anymore because of the nickle and diming.
