Just another day in paradise but is there anyone out there who knows where Saba went this time? I could have sworn it was there yesterday......

Don't know what made us do it, but at about 11:30 we decided to go to Friars for lunch. As has been the case almost every time we've gone anywhere, the traffic was abysmal but we persevered and actually remembered how to find the road that brings you right into the Friars Bay Beach Cafe parking area. For those thinking about it, the road is just about the worse I've ever seen it. I could walk faster than we drove, and that's saying something.

Anyhow, lunch was delicious and too much food - baked Camembert for me and a huge burger with bacon and cheese and yummy frites for John. It was a tough decision because their menu has so much great stuff to choose from. With drinks I think our lunch tab came to $55.00 and it was well worth it. The rum punches were to die for, too.

Just for hahas we went over the causeway and left toward Marigot and then on to Friars Bay, and as I said, the traffic was abysmal but this was what we expected for a Friday midday during Carnival season. Coming home we took the route skirting the water through Marigot and the French lowlands road which was not too bad at all. Our initial objective was a ride and lunch at Paradise View. Another day and another day trip perhaps.

And our daughters start arriving tomorrow. We are very excited for them to join us if only for 5-6 days.

Respectfully,

pat

Jealous! About your visit to Friar's, but not about the traffic. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Wink.gif" alt="" />

Thanks, and my girls start arriving today - Karen on the n/s Delta from JFK, Kim tomorrow from JFK on the n/s JB and Rene tomorrow on the DTA n/s from Atlanta. So nice to have them all together which doesn't happen very often.

Yup, the schools in Marigot let the kids out for lunch around noon and it creates a traffic mess. 11a is our departure cut off time for Happy Bay...or after 1230p. Much better then

We were on that route around 12:30 after our early Jet Blue arrival on our way to Grand Case Beach Club. Didn't think traffic was bad at all.

I hope you have a truly wonderful time at GCBC. We've eaten there many times over the years but we only overnighted there once and only for a few nights at the end of our Towers time. Absolutely loved it and once parked, never started our car again until we had to leave for the airport.

Will you be at the Sapphire this trip? I hope you read Teresa's trip report about her time there - it sounded wonderful and I hope your experiences are the same. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" />

Head to Sapphire on Sat for two weeks. Sounds like progress has been made. We never have high expectations so will be pleased with any improvements. Always made the best of whatever the situation was.

I love the way you think!! Look for the positives. Those negatives aren't any fun at all - at least not in my book. And if you really need to complain, let it be about something truly worth complaining about! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" />

I love reading your reports because I always learn something new. After 25 years plus, why have I never been to Friars??? The food looks amazing, rum punches even better. What's the beach like? We travel with a wide variety of people from young to old and was wondering if they'd like it. We love Anse Marcel, usually spend a day at LeString on Orient and would love to add Friar's to the mix.

I have always found friers beach to Rocky and sometimes with an offensive order coming from the stagnant pond to the back.

Haven't been to Friars in quite a long time. Is there still Kali's? Is crazy Job still there?
