Sat out on the balcony from about 5:15 to read and catch the sunrise, still shivering and wondering why I didn't pack a warm sweater (since I seem to have packed about most everything else I own..........) and finally spotted my first cruise ship of the morning heading into P'berg. It's a beautiful sunny morning with all the promise of a great day to follow and I can even vaguely see the shape of Saba in the distance. It's gonna' be a bright sun-shiny day. There were some golfers catching an early round before the heat sets in. Around 11:00-ish we saw a Norwegian head into port. Unbelievable the views we have from our balcony.
And wouldn't you just know it - DH is coming down with an old fashioned head cold and apparently eager to share it with me. We did some errands in the morning - important stuff like a trip to Tortuga for breakfast and then Zee Best for a refill of morning pastries along with a stop at the Maho Pharmacy for some cough and cold meds. That may just be our whole day with a walk out to the pool thrown in to step it up a bit........ and in the end, the pool didn't even happen.
But we made it to Pineapple Pete's for dinner and ran into lots of friends while there, some from right here at the Towers, along with Laurel (PreK176) and husband Jeff dining with Wild Bill and Pat from TTOL. What a nice surprise all around.
And we finally got around to trying PP's lobster Thermidor. It was good but not the same quality as we've been used to at Antoine's. But perhaps it's a matter of what you're accustomed to. And if we all loved the same things or places, some of us would never get served, right? We've always enjoyed Pineapple Pete's but I think we'd make different menu selections next time. I do remember having the best grouper burger at PP's that I've ever had anywhere and the service is always good and the staff very friendly. Our dinner check came to $113.00 which included two LT entrees, one NA Beer and two glasses of wine plus service.
Home and early to bed, hoping to sleep off these colds.
Respectfully,
pat

Be nice....... don't know what happened last night - maybe Internet down here at the Towers or feeling so icky maybe we were already in bed.
This morning? No pockets in my nightgown - phone in bedroom and we were on the porch. And remember, we don't live for the cell phone to ring....And when we realized it was our phone and finally found the phone.........well, you get the picture, I'm sure.
Good news, all of it. Thanks for persisting. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Joy.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Joy.gif" alt="" />

Pat--thanks for the note. Glad the weather is better, and hope the colds get better too! Been dealing with one myself for several days and it's no fun! I haven't had such a lovely view as you do to make the time pass, but I'd rather not be sick on vacation, for sure!! Feel better!

Pat - do you have something in your bag to boost your immune system? A few days after getting home from St. Maarten I came down with the WORST flu/virus I have had in years. It flattened me and I hadn't been sick all winter. It started as a head cold and then became a whole body issue with dizziness, lethargy and body aches. Sleep seemed to be the only thing that cured it. Sleep and Oregano Oil. Five drops into one inch of water and slug it down like a shooter. Refill one inch of water and repeat just to get rid of the taste. It's strong but it's a powerful antioxidant for the whole body and it does a number of other wonderful things too. At one of the TV stations I worked in 30 people used the same computers and phones so watching a cold/flu make it's way through the newsroom was like watching a tsunami. Everyone always got sick except for 3 people. It was always the same three people. I asked what their secret was and they showed me their oregano oil. If you're willing to try it, is there a health food store on the island? Not sure if Maho Pharmacy has it - might be worth a try.
Oregano Oil - organic is best if you can get it. Five drops into one inch of water, do not take it on it's own. When you feel a cold come on or if you're in the grips of one it will either make it go away or lessen the symptoms. It will also dry you up. Use it 4-5 times a day.
You can't get sick...you're on holiday!!!!!

Theresa - what type of glass? One inch of water in a wide drinking glass is a lot more than one inch in a shot glass.

Teresa--are you sure you didn't get that bug that normally runs around Sonesta Maho this time of year?? I haven't really heard about it so far this year, but it has been there basically every high season for several years in a row.

In regards to the Oregano Oil-
It's one inch of water in a water glass - four to five drops.
Carol - I didn't get sick until about 10 days after I stayed at Sonesta Maho. After we stayed there we moved on to Sapphire and Alegria. The virus I had is rampant in North America - it's all over Toronto and some of our work colleagues in the U.S. have it too. My symptoms hit right after I landed back home so I know I definitely got it on the island. There were a lot of people, tourists and locals sniffing and coughing. It's just one of those seasonal viruses however, Oregano Oil and other immune system boosters can help your body keep it away.

OK, I wasn't sure what the order was, when you stayed where. It would be good if they have finally gotten rid of that virus at the Sonesta..

I was all over Trip Advisor before we left due to Sonesta's problems last year. No one was sick...I couldn't find anything, not even a cold. I think the virus came in on an airplane from somewhere but it was definitely all over the island when we visited.
It sucks to have a flu/virus when you're on holidays!

I think red wine works better and makes you feel fuzzy all over, instead of yukky all over... Not kidding... Red wine is very good for immune system..
