Driving can be fun here ....providing one has nerves of steel.
For 20 odd years I have felt safer due to the only traffic light on the island...you know...one that turns red and then green again...orderly, civilized and safe for all as everyone obeyed the signals.
Well... That is history as about 4 weeks ago the lights all flashed amber and now all are dark resulting in a scramble and right of way for the largest and bravest. The solution is a 4 way stop sign until the lights are operating again as designed.

Motorcyclists doing wheelies are more prevalent than ever, mostly on the French side resulting in reduced safety for all.

Pedro's road (actually a collectivity road) is in bad shape rattling teeth of all users...time for grading again or even better a hard surface.

When you speak of "Pedro's road", I guess you are talking about the road beside the Club O fence, that dead ends at Pedro's? Or the whole road, going into Club O? How is the road behind the Orient restaurants these days? Sometimes a small car can get lost in those holes in the road.

Carol....the road beside the Club O fence is somewhat sandy and not terrible. A few years ago a concrete road was put down from Les Hautes de Baie sign turning left towards Pedro's but it appears they ran out of concrete leaving about 1/4 mile to the actual Club O entrance at the mercy of tropical weather and traffic resulting in a bone jarring ride over pot holes and washboard. Must be a deterrent for taxi and tour bus traffic which is both good and bad.

Thanks, yes, I knew that they stopped the concrete road before Club O, but I didn't know if you were talking just the last little bit by the Club O fence, or that whole road. They seem to grade the road periodically, but apparently not lately..

I just drove that road into Club O and it is a total disaster. There is not an inch of good spot to drive on, and i don't know why there aren't punctured tires! I did see a lot more than usual 2 wheeled vehicle crazy acts and wheelies This year. I mentioned to my wife that i didn't know why there wasn't more bike accidents, and then read where those two young men lost their lives on one near Ranch Del Sol. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Shocked.gif" alt="" />
