We are planning a long (26 days) trip out of JFK this June, thinking Stay, Park and Fly would work except can't find any hotels allowing more than a week free parking. Anyone have a suggestion?

If you are staying on the way home also we have used that for a second week in the past if that would work. Good luck.

Try the site Stay123. We have had up to three weeks free parking out of Newark with a one night pre-flight hotel stay at a Wyndamn hotel. They offered the option to pay for additional parking. Maybe Stay123 offers something similar near JFK.

we use Hampton Inn from Boston. Perhaps they're at NY? They offer more than 1 week for a fee beyond room rate. We've used for up to a month.

I used buyreservations.com. I am staying at the Hilton Garden Inn JFK and they will let me leave my car past the 1 week and charge me $15 per day for the extra days. You pay them at check in for the extra parking days. Let me know if you have any questions.

That would be just under $300 for the additional parking...there must be another plan B
Maybe fly out of PHL instead...AA even has a N/S to SXM
Save the drive...absorb the $300 into flight costs

Thanks for the suggestions. We were hoping to keep the parking cost to under a few hundred $! But JFK is so expensive and it's too late to change to another airport, guess we'll just have to bite the bullet.
By the way, the Hampton Inn option was the highest! ALL of the hotels we could find limit free parking to exactly a week- odd.

What we have been doing for awhile is a one way rental car. We pick it up close to where we live the day before the trip and drive to the airport the next day. Our trip, however, is within the same state. Not sure if rental companies let you bring the cars out of state or not. For a long island stay it might be worth checking it out.

I was wondering whether that would be an option for the original poster. The issue with a one way rental is not going out of state, but potentially whether there is a drop off charge at the other end, when you drop off the car. Dropping the car off at JFK wouldn't be an issue, probably, because they need lots of cars there. Dropping off near your house from JFK, might be.

For quite a few years we have rented from Dollar. Just recently they added a $30.00 one way fee which the local ofc told us they are doing for Spring Break only. When they didn't have that fee it was a no brainer for us. I used to check every week or two and often got the price really down--sometimes to $20-$25. We are in SXM for long periods of time so $500-$70 to get back and forth to the airport was great. We shall see if they do take off the charge when Spring Break is over. If not it doubles the cost for us and we may need to check limo services in our area.

Did check the link, Bobcat, $370 for cheapest parking (Radisson) and that's not including hotel stay. The flight out leaves on a Monday AM so it would be tough getting to JFK, thus our desire for a Sunday night hotel room.
One-way car rental might be an option if we stay somewhere in NJ. Thanks.

Is there a car service with a flat rate? Maybe a shuttle from Newark (EWR) to JFK? ================== LINK

One way car rental (x 2) sounds decent. I saw that you are from PA but no clue where so I used PHL as a pick up point (but off airport might be cheaper) and JFK as a drop off...around $100/day airport to airport. plus one night in a hotel (Sunday before departure)
Complicated....
..and to add to the complication <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Wink.gif" alt="" />
Delta has a R/T N/S flight PHL-JFK that arrives 654am Monday (6a PHL departure) for $229...$460 for two.(I used 6/4)..maybe skip the Sunday hotel stay AND the car ride...also same on Sunday but you will add the hotel stay...separate ticket so a bit of a pain
(PHL-SXM n/s or even with a stop would have been better though)

We drive to JFK with a one way rental from CT. Drop off right at the terminal and have either (1)rented a car for the return, again one way or (2) had a car service bring us back to CT. We have never paid a one way drop off charge. Lot of time we drive to the airport with the rental car, drop it off at terminal drive and get the hotel shuttle back to the hotel if we are taking an early morning flight. Lately, it seems as if this is the bet way for us to travel to an out of state airport.

I also looked into renting a car one way but it would cost close to the same amount it will cost to leave my car there with hotel stay. buyreservations.com has the best prices for park, stay, fly packages.

If you are not staying for more than a week or two, I agree that it might cost more than other ways of getting there. When we only went for short periods of time we did the same thing (hotel stay and getting a week or two of free parking). Also we live close to a very large international airport which might make a difference in costs. Anyway it has worked well for us so far.

I have found that calling the hotel directly and not going thru the parksleepfly.com site, they will work with you as last year I did a 17 day with a sleep on the back end.

Thanks- do you recall the name of the hotel and did they charge more after a week of parking?
