My wife and I tonight decided to try something different for us, and hit some new places which we haven't gone before,. We have done this a few times this vacation. First we went to Melange, which i wrote about.....couple of nights agom after almost thirty years of coming to the island, we went to Rancho, which is now being called Palapa Grill. Same menu, same chef....but it was okay....not as spectacular as some of the other places we have gone...but tonight, we ventured to THE STONE. I did check their website, which Im glad i dod, because they are in a new location, in a back building, near the Tropicana Casino. Well......we surely were NOT disappointed at all. We kinda knew we were in for a treat, when they brought over the french bread, with a sun dried tomato spread. OMG...it was delicious. Followed by their Spring Roll appetizer, which we split. The flavors were totally amazing!!!! We both wanted to ''lick the plate''. Then, the entrees arrived....I had the duck breast,...my wife had the scallops with a passion fruit sauce. Both entrees were unbelievably delicous. the flavors of both rivaled any other restaurant we've been to. The service was phenomenal also....the servers were right on top of everything. The Stone now, will be added to our ''must do list''...along with our faves....Piazza Pascal, La Villa, Mark's Place, Lee's *hopefully will still be their or another location by next year), Le Moulin Fou, Pizza Pasta and Chesterfields. and...speaking of restaurants...we have dined numerous times this week at Le String on Orient for lunch...and not once have we been disappointed!!!! Great Creole food, great burgers, and great paninis. I know it doesn't get much press here....but for a great lunch, with great service, and great food...it can't be beat!!!! Going to hate going back to the real world Saturday....where my diet will start fresh!! smile

We liked the stone too--not sure if it's the same people as years ago a place located in Savanne up a dirt road cooked on rocks. Last Thursday we tried Hidden Cafe in GC and it was delicious food served on a sizzling stone to cook at the table. And location is beautiful, a truly hidden garden, small intimate on the land side on main blvd.

Book a sail on Neil Roebert's The Celine that leaves from The Stone and ends with a delicious meal there. It is run by Neil's son.
